Tuition fees

Beginning with the summer semester 2007, the state of Bavaria has introduced tuition fees for all degree programmes at Bavarian state universities. The fees range from 100 to 500 Euros per semester, for both national and international students. The universities themselves levy these fees and are free to decide on the exact amount within the given limits.

The universities must appropriate these funds for improving the conditions for studying, e.g. by hiring more staff, offering more tutorials and smaller seminar groups, improving their IT-equipment or extending the opening hours of their libraries. So the students will benefit from their fees directly. The students have a right of co-determination on this matter.
