Financial Support in the Field of 'Arts and Culture'

The Cultural Fund, established in 1996, is part of the 'Bavarian Offensive for the Future' programme, introduced by the Bavarian State Government to encourage, among other things, the improvement of the Free State's cultural infrastructure.

The coordination and supervision that are necessary at all stages of project development from the preparatory groundwork through to the submission of the final proposal for acceptance are the responsibility of the Bavarian State Ministries of Education and Culture, and of Sciences, Research and the Arts.

With regard to applications for funds exceeding 25,000 euro within the field of competence of the State Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts, the final decision lies with the Cabinet. The Cabinet is not involved in decisions relating to such applications within the field of competence of the State Ministry of Education and Culture, however. The proposals of both ministries are submitted to the Bavarian Parliament's State Budget and Finance Committee and the University, Research and Culture Committee or the Education, Youth and Sport Committee for approval.
